Have You Gone Hiking Lately?

When was the last time you headed into the woods with the family? Check out the American Hiking Society to learn about trail days, volunteer vacations and great hiking resources, all perfect for helping our kids connect with nature.  Being in the woods, learning the art of camping and hiking and being educated on our natural world are extremely valuable tools for our children, especially in a culture that threatens to lure them away from the spectacular natural world.  Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods and the Nature Principle, sums it up perfectly when he says,

The future will belong to the nature-smart—those individuals, families, businesses, and political leaders who develop a deeper understanding of the transformative power of the natural world and who balance the virtual with the real. The more high-tech we become, the more nature we need.”

For thirty years the American Hiking Society has been protecting and maintaining America’s hiking experience. Join in the fun! You’re kids will love it!
